FTV Proclad International Limited is a worldwide market and technological leader in the protective weld cladding of pipeline components covering Oil & Gas, UK Ministry of Defense and Renewables.  The company is part of a larger Group whose head office is based in Dubai and are the one of the largest CRA providers worldwide. 

We are pleased to announce that due to the growing order book success, the company has an exciting opportunity for a materials engineer to join our engineering team. The role would suit a motivated and enthusiastic engineer seeking work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will have excellent technical experience and communication skills, who is well-organised with an eye for detail.

Key Duties and Responsibilities.  

  • Performing and documenting reviews of project technical specifications, drawings, purchase orders and national standards to validate compliance at quotation stage. 
  • Liaising directly with the client and internal departments with regard to materials engineering requirements. 
  • Providing technical support to the sales team with internal and external customer visits. 
  • Ensuring that all allocated work scopes are fully compliant with applicable product and quality standards
  • Supporting quality review forums, aimed at reducing any rework. Responsibilities will include the creation of performance related dispositions, identifying any corrective actions and preventative measures for any material / bend quality issues that may arise. 
  • Assisting with the development of new and existing equipment. 
  • Supporting the continuous development and improvement of bending procedures and policies that will enhance business practices.
  • Translating drawings and design requirements into bend requirements and developing the method of qualification in-line with the relevant codes, standards and client specifications
  • Preparing / reviewing all documents required for production bending ensuring that all the areas of the contract are addressed and recorded. 
  • Detailing all heat treatment requirements to production and reviewing documentation on completion of heat treatment. 
  • Development, qualification, and application of bending procedures.  Preparing/reviewing all procedures and procedure qualifications to ensure their suitability for the required contract (relevant national/international standards and client specification).   
  • Controlling chemical, corrosion, and mechanical testing, assessing test results in accordance with the contract requirements
  • Reviewing the suitability of bending equipment for the scope of work required and providing an input for necessary maintenance and calibration of bending equipment. 


Essential Skills & Experience. 

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of Material Science Technologist (Level 6), Materials Process Engineer (Level 7) qualification or a degree specializing in a specific group of materials and their uses, such as metallurgy, polymer science, biomaterials, ceramics and glass, or geology.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Knowledge and experience of hot forming processes.
  • Knowledge of materials standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft outlook, word, and excel packages.

 

Desirable Skills & Experience.

One of the following qualifications would be desirable.

  • Member of a professional institution (i.e. IOM3)
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of Q-Pulse
